Job Brief: Maintenance Tech II (weekend 2nd shift)


Broad Function:

Performs and plans work assignments to include repair and preventive maintenance on production machinery, electrical/electronics systems, HVAC, and facilities equipment.

Principal Responsibilities:

Level 1:

  • Constructs, modifies, maintains, repairs and provides the services required for the maintenance, operation and improvement of the facility and manufacturing equipment.

  • Uses knowledge, skills, diagram sketches, operations manuals and manufacturer's specifications to report and maintain production on the most complicated machinery and mechanical equipment (i.e. engines, motors, tools, conveyor systems, production machines, forklifts, fabrication devices and HVAC equipment).

  • Troubleshoots pneumatic and hydraulic systems utilizing appropriate schematics, or working from past experience.

  • Uses hand tools, power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments.

Level 2:

Includes Level 1 responsibilities:

  • Lubricates machines and parts.

  • Provides leadership, training and instruction to operators, set ups and other maintenance personnel. Provides work directions, as requested by supervisor, to other maintenance employees.

  • Plans, organizes, and performs machine, equipment and system repairs, including but not limited to, electrical/electronics, hydraulics, and pneumatics, machinery and equipment rebuild and recondition, and modifications, construction repairs, rebuilding, reconditioning and modification.

  • Using own knowledge and/or working from blueprints, drawings, schematic layouts, etc. using a wide variety of tools instruments and gages, troubleshoots machine, equipment and systems, analyzes problems, diagnoses causes, determines corrective action and implements same (PLC).

  • Qualifies services performed to be functional and meet machine, equipment, systems, and where applicable, production specifications.

  • Evaluate technical problems, machine equipment, and systems and provides input to Management, Engineering, Quality and Operations supervisors relative to improvements.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED).

  • Seven to ten years machining experience with increasing complexity and responsibility.

  • Journeyman level mechanic, machinist or toolmaker.

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure.

  • Blueprint reading, must be able to calculate metric and standard measurements.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk and hear. The employee must occasionally walk, sit and reach with hands or arms. The employee must frequently lift an/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
