Role Summary:

The Lead Repair Engineer will serve as the primary focal point in communicating business goals, programs, and processes in support of the Dayton repair business. In the role of Lead Repair Engineer, you will utilize your experience to work cross-functionally between functions such as Operations, Quality, Customer Support and the customer.

Essential Responsibilities:

As Lead Repair Engineer, You will :

  • Develop new airframe and engine tube / duct repair schemes and transition into a production environment

  • Write and maintain repair packages and procedures that comply with GEAE policies, FAA regulations, and OEM manuals

  • Provide unique and proprietary repairs not available through field service data such as shop manuals – employ on-site FAA certified DERs

  • Initiate GEAE engine shop manual changes / additions (RD, PCR) through RTCoE, including content and justification

  • Work with GE Product Support and Fleet and Program Management to implement emergency S / B field modifications and fixes

  • Provide technical support for all processes used in the repair of tubes / ducts

  • Hold Special Process Owner (SPO) roles for approval and control

  • Provide tooling/inspection specification and instruction for fabrication and use

  • Establish acceptance plans and shop aids for tube / duct repairs

  • Provide new equipment specification and justification

  • Team with Repair / Manufacturing, Quality, Production Planning, and Customer Support to optimize business results including quality, delivery, and cost

  • Provide technical assistance (repairs, modifications, costs, etc) on potential Marketing opportunities

  • Continuously work to reduce cost of repairs using Six Sigma tools / skills and by planning / leading and participating in action workouts

  • Lead cross functional / cross organizational projects to improve business matrices and customer expectations

  • Develop and implement business processes to satisfy new customer / business needs

  • Understand the customer and develop customer-driven solutions

  • Exhibit leadership in daily activities through communication and actions

  • Challenge the status quo

  • Push / encourage different ideas and approaches

  • Use statistical tools to solve problems and drive change

  • Communicate to functional organizations and business leaders Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited college or university

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an engineering position ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT :

  • This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment Desired Characteristics:

  • Strong technical aptitude, including repair engineering experience

  • Proven knowledge in the field of materials and process

  • Solid oral and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • PC proficiency
